MEDIA RELATIONS
As insurance companies come under increasing
attack from the media, plaintiffs' attorneys and advocacy groups,
your customers and prospective customers are watching and listening.
You can be confident that NW Insurance Council will represent your
company by providing a balanced industry perspective based on facts.
By carefully monitoring sensitive issues, we can proactively educate
reporters, inform the public and dispel what critics are saying
about our companies.
PUBLIC POLICY
NW Insurance Council works to create a healthy,
vibrant business climate that benefits member companies and their
customers. The council is an advocate for public policy that promotes
a consumer-friendly insurance market that allows companies to offer
a variety of products to their customers at competitive prices.
Through effective strategic communications, the council provides
key facts and industry perspectives about legislative proposals
and public policy issues related to property/casualty insurance.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Understanding the Value of Insurance begins
with teaching citizens, jurors and legislators the fundamental principles
of how insurance works. With our Education & Outreach Committee,
we take our message to insurance agents, business and community
groups, and legislators to address insurance issues that impact
everyone. Better-informed consumers make smarter choices about their
insurance needs and gain a greater appreciation for their insurance
companies.
INSURANCE CRIMES PREVENTION
NW Insurance Council is on the forefront of
combating insurance crimes and raising awareness among citizens.
We fully fund a $10,000 Arson Awards program in Washington and $5,000
awards programs both in Oregon and Idaho. Monetary awards are presented
to citizens who offer information that helps investigators track
down and arrest arsonists. We also sponsor a regional $5,000 Insurance
Fraud Awards Fund for citizens who turn in fraud perpetrators.
