Insurance For Teen Drivers
Getting your driver's license can be a terrific experience. For
some teenagers, a driver's license is viewed as an achievement.
For others, it's a ticket to independence and a rite of passage.
In either case, one thing is for sure: with this privilege comes
great responsibility.
As a teen, you're considered a high-risk driver. In fact, teenagers
have the highest death rate of any group of drivers. Motor vehicle
crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds,
according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Other than
supervised driving in training classes or with parents, teens
have very little experience behind the wheel, which leads to more
frequent speeding tickets and accidents and, therefore, higher
insurance rates.
But there are steps parents and teens can take to increase safety
and lower their insurance rates. NW Insurance Council offers the
following resources to help you safely navigate your teen driving
years.
